Fudge Matcha Brownie w/ Green Tea Mousse
Samovar Tea Lounge, San Francisco
Sakura
One of the great things about San Francisco is the presence of districts dedicated to specific cultures. This weekend while I was there, I was able to buy Middle-eastern food and groceries such as kataifi, rose water, baklava and kanafeh. With the groceries I bought, I also made my own kanafeh. BUT the best part of it all is Japantown! Haha. I found my sakura stuff and bought a hefty lot of groceries!
One of them is this loose leaf tea. I have been drinking it each morning since I bought it! I love how this tea smells and the pink peppercorns, although I don’t really taste them, are so cute! They’re like mini cherries. Sakurambo, by the way, is the fruit of the sakura. In simpler terms, sakurambo = cherry.
I also found some pickled sakura flowers. They look pretty especially when put in tea. You just have to rinse them though because they are quite salty.
These are just the 2 items out of, I think a hundred of what I bought in Nijiya Market. One of these days, I’ll snap a photo of my Japanese pantry for you to see. :)
Japan in San Francisco? What more could I ask for? Haha
Iced Tazo Passion Tea + Raspberry Syrup
My favorite drink ever in Starbucks is the Tazo Shaken Iced Passion Tea with a pump of raspberry syrup. So, I thought of making some myself. I ended up with a richer flavor of the Passion Tea. I still prefer Starbucks’ though but I think I’ll be making a lot of iced teas with the tea bags I bought. I’ll add more water next time :)
